For those uninformed individuals, the 2009 NFL Draft occurred this weekend. Being a fan of both the Carolina Panthers and Houston Texans, I was very excited about this weekend.
The Carolina Panthers had a total of seven picks and they used them well. I was very surprised that Everette Brown was available in the Second Round. Florida State defenders have a good track record of becoming good NFL players and I think that Brown will follow suit. The Panthers second pick in the Second Round was used on Sherrod Martin, a DB from Troy. I have confidence that this guy is a good player but I feel that the team could have used that pick on another player. Corvey Irvin was the Panther’s single Third Round pick and I was surprised by it as well. I was not expecting Carolina to take another DL in the early part of the draft. Carolina made two great decisions in the fourth round by drafting Mike Goodson (HB) and Tony Fiammetta (FB). Both of these players have the skills to fit into the Panther system well. In the Fifth Round, the Panthers drafted Duke Robinson, an OL out of Oklahoma. When Jamon Meredith (University of South Carolina) was taken on the previous pick, Robinson was a great consolation prize. Finally, to wrap up the Panther’s draft, they drafted Captain Munnerlyn out of the University of South Carolina. Being a fan of the Gamecocks, I was very happy for the Captain to land in Charlotte. I would give Carolina a “B” grade for their draft efforts this weekend. I loved most of the picks but Martin and Irvin kept them from receiving an “A” in my view.
I didn’t follow the Texans draft as closely but they got a great player in Antoine Caldwell (C-Alabama). Cushing is also a great pickup for them and should play immediately in that defensive lineup.
The University of South Carolina did pretty good this year. Jared Cook was selected in the Third Round by the Titans. Jasper Brinkley, Kenny McKinley, and Jamon Meredith were Fifth Round selections. Munnerlyn, as previously mentioned, along with Ryan Succop and Stoney Woodson were Seventh Round selections. Succop has the distinct title of “Mr. Irrelevant” as he was drafted by Kansas City with the 256th pick. Unlike many “Mr. Irrelevant” recipients, Succop has a legitimate chance of making the Chiefs roster. Notable USC players that weren’t drafted include Emanuel Cook (left after his Junior year), Mike Davis, Marvin Sapp, Justin Sorensen, and Carlos Thomas. Both Cook and Munnerlyn should have returned for their Senior seasons as they both might have been early Second Day picks next year.
Day One of the draft was the fastest ever but Day Two lasted from 10:00 AM EST until past 7:00 PM EST. For those of you that didn’t catch it, I’d suggest going to NFL.COM to find out which players your team selected this year.

I thought I would take the time to remind everyone of my remix “videos” on YouTube.
My newest remix (Kanye West - Love Lockdown):
Well, yea, it has been a while since I’ve made a post. I’ve been quite busy this past month and I was away on vacation for the past week.
I’ve got several websites going right now and will be starting up a few more later this month. I’m also going to get around to adding those promised reviews to the review section of the website.
That’s all I can think of right now.
