Nas - Untitled Album Review

Date: July 25, 2008

Summary:

In the year where Lil’ Wayne is being considered the “Greatest Rapper Alive” (a laughable title at the very least), Nas has came through with a remarkable album. While Nas wasn’t allowed to call the album it’s intended name, he still manages to create one of the most important albums of the last few years.

Review:

First off, I’m not going to say that Untitled is better than Illmatic. What I will say, though, is that Untitled is the second best album that Nas has ever released. The message involved with the album is something that the Hip-Hop community needs in this age of “Dance & Snap” music.

This is an album that you can listen to from start to end without hearing a filler track. The song subjects are far and wide as Nas covers everything from Fox Network to Barak Obama. The lyrics are insightful and, unlike a majority of modern albums, force you to think about what is being said. Album production is superb and the guest appearances fit in with the message that Nas is bringing across. Besides, any rapper that has the respect to feature a legend such as Eban Thomas in a track deserves major props. A brownie point is also provided because this is one album that doesn’t feature Lil’ Wayne.

If you love Nas, you’ll love this album. If you love complex and meaningful lyrics, you’ll love this album. If you think Soulja Boy is a great rapper, you’ll most likely hate this album. This is an important album for the industry and I personally suggest that you go out and purchase this album if you feel like supporting a good cause.
